Stand Up NY Presents a New Show Called "What Else Did I Want to Say?" This show is an intimate peak at one of the top comedians in the world working out new material for stages across the country and world!

Stand Up NY is proud to welcome Ronny Chieng, as our first comedian to the series.

Hosted by JP McDade and featuring Laurie Kilmartin!
Ronny Chieng:
Ronny Chieng is Chinese stand-up comedian and actor born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, raised in Manchester, NH, USA and Singapore, who graduated from the University of Melbourne in Australia in 2009 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce.

Ronny started comedy in Melbourne in 2009. Since then has he had 3 sold out global stand up comedy theater tours in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and London. Ronny has been invited to the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in 2012, 2013 and 2015.  He made his US television debut on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2015. He was also invited to open for Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr on their national stand up comedy tours of Australia.

Ronny has toured and recorded 4 separate stand up comedy specials - The Ron Way (2012), Can You Do This? No You Can't. (2013), Chieng Reaction (2014), You Don't Know What You're Talking About (2015). In 2015 Ronny moved to New York City after being hired as a correspondent on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Comedy Central. He also lost 11kg but that was unrelated to comedy.

J.P. Mcdade:

started doing stand up comedy in New York City in the Fall of 2012. He began by hitting open mics and grinding through unpaid gigs in bars, but these eventually opened the door to slightly better unpaid gigs in bars. Night after night J.P. has performed at various comedy clubs, bars, and small theaters around New York and on the road and built a reputation as a clever joke writer. In 2015 he began writing for the web series Sports Balls on korkedbats.com, demonstrating his knack for topical joke writing. In addition to writing for this web series, he has appeared onscreen in several others. McDade has written for several comedians in "roast battle" style shows and competed on the RoastMasters show at The Stand Comedy Club in what club management called "perhaps the greatest battle in RoastMasters history."

Although J.P. has done his share of monologue and roast joke writing, his stand up act is more than a collection of one-liners. J.P. is a capable mimic who weaves characters and impressions into his set to keep the audience guessing and, more importantly, laughing. In New York, J.P. has gotten laughs clubs such as Caroline's, Gotham, The Creek & The Cave, The Stand and countless independent shows, such as his free monthly show at Lucky Jack's called Suckerpunch. McDade has also appeared at various venues in Connecticut, Long Island, Boston and North Carolina and plans to reach many more audiences around the country in 2016.
